چکیده
Judgments of the numerousness of patterns of dots vary with the size of the background on which the dots are presented The direction of this judgmental illusion depends upon the experimental correlation between background size and actual number of dots When the correlation is positive, judged numerousness varies inversely with background size, however, when the correlation is negative, the illusion is reversed The subjective correlations estimated from an expectancy-contrast model were found to be a monotonic function of the 7 actual correlations used in 2 experiments These results replicate and extend previous findings for the stze-numerosity illusion

تاثیر مواجهه با استرس صوتی در دوران بارداری بر روند یادگیری و تثبیت حافظه فضایی فرزندان نر موشهای صحرایی
Background: Numerous evidences indicate that various environmental stresses during pregnancy affect physiological behavior of the offspring. This experimental study was designed to investigate the effect of noise stress during prenatal period of rats on spatial learning and memory and plasma corticostrone level in postnatal life. Methods: Three groups of pregnant rats were given daily noise ...
متن کاملProbiotic supplementation improves the cognitive function and the anxiety-like behaviors in the stressed rats
Objective(s): Prenatal stresses increase incidence of neurodevelopmental disorders and influence cognitive abilities. Glucocorticoids are released in stress condition as endpoint activation of hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Evidence indicates a cross-talk between gut microbiota and brain function. This study assesses the effect of probiotic supplementation ...

In recent decades, population growth and progress of technology have shaped large and compact urban settlements. Existence of huge transportation systems and developed urban infrastructures are among the most important properties of modern cities. In spite of prompt transit and facilitated daily activities, development of transportation systems causes many problems, including traffic, air and n...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effects of Exposure to Continuous White Noise on SLC26A4 Gene Expression Levels in Male Rat Cochlea
Background and purpose: Irreversible damage to the inner ear is known as noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Exposure to excessive noise can affect the expression of genes in molecules involved in development of NIHL. SLC26A4 gene or PDS is responsible for causing both syndromic and non-syndromic deafness and is located at DFNB site. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression level ...
متن کاملAnalysis of the effect of spatial arrangement on the level of acoustic comfort in contemporary apartment housing units (Case study: Apartment housing in Tabriz)
Introduction: What is neglected by designers and even users in today's housing, especially apartment housing in Iranian cities, are various aspects of physical comfort, including sound comfort. Noise is defined as unwanted noise, in other words, extra noise is an annoyance in the living and working environment. This ambient noise should be controlled as much as possible and reduced to an accep...
